Which nurse’s clogs should you choose for 12 hours on your feet? The 2026 comparison
Being on your feet for 12 hours in the hospital or in a CHSLD is the equivalent of a half-marathon every shift and if your shoes don’t keep up, it’s your back, your knees and your good mood that pay the price.
At LG Confort Médical, we see hundreds of nurses pass through each week with the same problem. So we thought of making an honest guide to choosing the right shoes without making a mistake.
The 5 non-negotiable criteria: Here’s what your feet really want:
1) Cushioning and arch support:
You need a shock-absorbing sole. If you have flat feet or high arches, a clog without support can easily lead to plantar fasciitis.
2) A non-slip sole.
On a wet floor, this can prevent falls and injuries, and it’s mandatory in 90% of hospitals in Quebec.
3) Weight:
A heavy clog drains your energy. Aim for a lightweight shoe, because at 10,000 steps a day, it makes a huge difference.
4) Maintenance: Clogs should be washable in 30 seconds under running water or with wipes and resistant to blood, bleach, etc.
We love materials like polymer for this reason.
5) Breathability: We look for breathable shoes made with materials that don’t retain moisture.
*At LG Medical Comfort, we only sell what we ourselves would wear for 12 hours.
Here are our five favorite products:
Wock EVERLITE – The lightest
Who is it for? For 90% of nurses in medicine, surgery, long-term care facilities, and personal care attendants. If you walk a lot in the hallways, this is the shoe for you. Ultra-lightweight: You won’t even feel it after 2 hours. It offers excellent arch support. It’s non-slip, easily washable, and anti-static.
Birkenstock BOSTON Leather – For support and style
Who is it for? Nurses with back pain, plantar fasciitis, or those who want a shoe that will last for years. Also super popular with doctors, surgeons, and physiotherapists.
Why we love it:
Legendary orthopedic support: The molded cork conforms to your arch. This is the only one that truly corrects posture in the long term.
Breathable natural leather: Your feet breathe, no more sweaty feet in the summer.
Incredible durability: several years.
Birkenstock SUPER BIRKI – The indestructible tank
Who is it for? The nurse who wants to buy ONCE and not think about it for 3 years. It’s the clog we’ve seen in every hospital in Quebec for 20 years for one reason: it never wears out. Material: One-piece polyurethane, seamless. Nothing cracks. Cork sole, non-slip.
It’s wide: perfect for wide feet, bunions, orthotics.
Wock BREELITE – the ultra-lightweight sneaker
Same lightness as the Everlite but with better ventilation on the upper. They feature a patented Wock foam sole that doesn’t absorb bacteria or odors. Evergrip anti-slip sole, antistatic, shock-absorbing heel.
Wock NUBE – Ultra breathable and anti-slip
We love it because it slips on in a second. Super breathable with six pads on the top and channels on the sides. Shock-absorbing heel. Its sole is treated with an antibacterial agent. It’s also the most anti-slip of all the Wock shoes. Its Evergrip technology has been tested by TÜV in Germany. On a wet floor in an emergency, you stay firmly planted. That’s reassuring.
